Senator Feinstein pushes Trump to approve $5 billion for Iran as Democrats block additional small business funding

Dianne Feinstein: I've 'been in worse situations' than the ...

WASHINGTON, DC– During this COVID-19 pandemic, America has been seen coming together across party lines in many instances.
The following is definitely not an example of that.
Long-time (really, really long-time) Senator Dianne Feinstein- a democrat, obviously- has recently sent a letter to President Trump urging him to send financial relief to Iran, to the tune of $5 billion.
FIVE BILLION AMERICAN DOLLARS to send to a country whose “Ayatollah” leads chants of “Death to America.”
Yeah, let’s jump right on that.
Please make sure you understand what I’ve just said:
An American Senator is pushing for a huge amount of funding to be sent to a known terrorist nation.
Meanwhile, democrats stopped a bill by republicans seeking to bring major and immediate financial relief to American small businesses.
“Feinstein’s letter was issued the same day that Senate Democrats blocked an urgent request from Sec. Mnuchin to increase the amount of cash in the emergency small business loan program recently established by Congress from $350 billion to $600 billion.”
Further, The New York Post reported:
“Rather than comply, Democrats issued demands: They insisted the new money include $60 billion for ‘community-based lenders’ that serve minorities, women, nonprofits and other groups. And the bill also had to OK an immediate $250 billion for cities, states, hospitals, food stamps and other needs.”
According to the Middle East Eye news network:
“A senior Democratic senator has urged President Donald Trump to approve Iran’s request for a $5bn loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), saying that it is ‘in the interest of international security’ to help Iran contain the spread of the coronavirus.”
When the White House indicated that it intended to block the request from Iran, Feinstein said she was “disappointed.”
She wrote a letter to President Trump last Thursday. In it, she said, in part:
“Providing these funds to Iran would help it respond more effectively to the disease and mitigate the risk of further destabilization in the region…
The coronavirus has hit Iran hard, with the potential for even greater spread in the region. In the interest of international security, President Trump should support Iran’s request to the IMF for emergency funds to contain this virus.

I am increasingly concerned that Iran is now contributing to the potential for even greater spread of this disease within the region as immigrants flee for their home countries, including Afghanistan. This portends additional challenges for US and coalition forces there who work alongside their Afghan counterparts.
It is in our national interest, and in the interest of international security, to help Iran contain this disease.”
The Tasnim News Agency reports that COVID-19 has infected 68,192 and killed 4,232 in Iran.
The Paycheck Protection Program has been so successful for America’s small businesses that it is projected to run out of money in a matter of DAYS. Millions more could lose their jobs and their livelihood.

Democrats don’t care.

The Middle East Eye also reported that a Trump Administration official said:

“The world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism is seeking cash to fund its adventurism abroad, not to buy medicine for Iranians.”
The regime’s corrupt officials have a long history of diverting funds allocated for humanitarian goods into their own pockets and to their terrorist proxies.
Iranians themselves know this best, which is why many dissidents and former political prisoners have written to the IMF requesting that they deny providing direct financial support to the regime, which would not go to help the Iranian people.”
The left is still crying to Trump, asking him to ease sanctions on the terrorist-loving country.
Of course, they’re saying it would be in our best interest because the type of loan they’re applying for- from the IMF known as Rapid Financing Instrument (RFI)- is also accompanied by “reform policies that the recipients must agree to in order to balance their finances.”
Some background on the RFI’s according to Middle East Eye:
“RFI loan requests are approved by the IMF executive board – a 24-member body that represents 189 countries. Voting quotas on the board are based on the countries’ economic size and contributions to the organisation. The United States has by far the largest voting quota, amounting to 16.52 percent of the votes.
IMF managing director Kristalina Georgieva said on Thursday that the organization has increased funds for urgent requests and is working around the clock to meet demand for financial aid during the Covid-19 crisis.

We are responding to an unprecedented number of calls for emergency financing – from over 90 countries so far,’ Georgieva said in a video message.”

Yes, we can all agree that forcing Iran to make some reforms regarding how it governs its people would be wonderful for everyone. However, this is Iran, not Great Aunt Mildred: they can’t be trusted.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned the IMF earlier this week that “global public opinion will be unforgiving against the organization if it does not meet Tehran’s request.”

Rouhani said:
“We are paying the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank our share, and part of our reserves are at their disposal. It is not and will not be acceptable to us if they discriminate against us when considering our application for the loan. It will not be acceptable to the world public opinion either.”
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary, Ali Shamkhani, heard that the US was intending to block the request and accused America of committing “crimes against humanity.”
Shamkhani said in a tweet:
“US opposition to granting Iran’s requested facilities from IMF to provide items needed to deal with coronavirus is a real case of crimes against humanity.”
Talk about a pot-and-kettle type statement.
Murdered officer's grave desecrated before headstone even placed
Aside from crimes against humanity, America, according to Iran, is also guilty of certain forms of terrorism. The sanctions imposed on Iran have been criticized by democrats and liberal rights groups alike.

Rouhani also said:
“The US sanctions on Iran are economic and medical terrorism … They are in violation of international medical conventions.
It will go down in history that the White House, which was engaged in economic terrorism so far, is now a terrorist in health issues, too.”
Once again, democrats and terrorists appear to be of the same mind.
Republicans like Ted Cruz, Kevin McCarthy and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have spoken out against Feinstein’s support to Iran over American’s own small businesses.
