James Comey Says He Violated Protocol In Flynn Investigation

Inspector general finds Comey violated FBI policy on Trump memos ...

Fired FBI director James Comey told MSNBC's Nicole Wallace during a December 2019 conversation that he "sent" FBI agents to be in the room during an interrogation of fired national security adviser Michael Flynn. Flynn eventually plead guilty to lying to FBI agents but is now seeking to withdraw the plea.
When asked how there were other FBI agents there Comey said he "sent them," noting it is "something we, I probably wouldn't have done or gotten away with in a more organized investigation -- a more organized administration."

NICOLE WALLACE: You look at this White House now and it's hard to imagine two FBI agents hanging out in the [Situation] room. How does that happen?

JAMES COMEY: I sent them.

[crowd laughs]

Something we, I probably wouldn't have done or gotten away with in a more organized investigation -- a more organized administration... The Bush administration, the Obama administration... The FBI wanted to send agents into the White House itself to interview a senior official. You would work through the White House counsel and there were discussions and approvals and it would be there and I thought, it's early enough. Let's just send a couple of guys over.
